Katie Dixon

Due to instability and drug addiction in her family, Katie Dixon first entered the criminal justice system at age 11. She cycled in and out of incarceration, serving around 8 years in total, but found the barriers to reentry almost insurmountable once she was released. Getting work with a criminal record was nearly impossible, and Katie fell into homelessness before receiving a fellowship at the Oakland-based social justice organization Legal Services for Prisoners with Children.
